Marcel helped me during a difficult period in my life. Over the course of two years, right before college I was having a tough time at home and on the court. Marcel was there for me on and off the court working out in the gym together and going to the beach for cardio pushed my game to the next level and got my head into a safe and positive place while chaos was going on around me. Marcel helped me get a scholarship to the college of the dessert in palms springs, CA and through his networking and being friends with Guy Fritz, Taylor Fritz’s father, he got me a shot to try out for Coach Fritz. He liked me and gave me a scholarship. Without Marcel, my life would have been completely different. Anyone looking for a great coach who really cares, reliable and is passionate about the growth of his students, he’s your man.

Coach Goodman brought my game to a level I couldn’t see myself getting to. He believed in me when I felt nobody else did. I had an amazing junior career along with playing singles and doubles for USC and being one of the top collegiate players in America. Anyone who wants to raise their tennis level mentally and physically, this is your guy!

I had a great time working with Marcel. He helped improve my backhand and serve like no other coach could! His level of patience was unbelievable. The little bits of priceless info have continued to help me every time I play. Thank you Coach Marcel!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonMy first lesson with a beginner would be to diagnose what are the parts of your game you need the most help with. Technical diagnoses and a movement diagnoses. At the end we will try to incorporate everything learned in lesson 1, and hit a few balls together at the end.
Lesson 11+We will take a step back and look at the progress made over the last 10 sessions. Self assess how you’re doing and we will start to work on playing points, building points, the mental side of the game, along with working on consistency in the rally. Ending with some light rallying together potentially using targets to work on aim as well.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 are all about repetition and feeling the racquet becoming an extension of your hand. You will gain confidence, stamina, correct technique, and better hand eye coordination. We will start to work on serving and the motion which is necessary for success.
Lesson 2-3Our second lesson will be a second diagnoses of how the student is feeling with their technique, any pains or aches must be identified and possibly corrected. Learning about consistency and how to swing from under to over the ball creating topspin. We will finish with a light rallying session to implement everything worked on.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson is a diagnoses and a meet and greet along with getting to know the player and checking to see if there is chemistry. Sometimes a pupil doesn’t click with the coach. The pupil shouldn’t be pushed to work with someone they don’t click with or see potential chemistry forming.
Lesson 11+Lesson 11 and on are to create a solid bond between coach and player. Checking our progress to see how we are doing with our goals. We will also start to add some physical fitness into our sessions. Fitness is key to tennis. Without physical fitness but mental clarity, you can only last for so long. Without mental clarity and only fitness you have a completely differing set of tactics that play into each type of player. That’s what makes tennis so exciting. No two players are the same.
Lesson 4-10We will be building points, working on tactics, game plans, strategies and contingency plans in case option a, b, and c don’t work. We will dissect your serve and create a weapon out of it. I learned how to serve from the same man who taught Andy Rodrick and revolutionized the game of tennis forever. Tarik Benhabiles
Lesson 2-3We will be working on what has been keeping you back from achieving your goals. Taking a look at your mental attitude, how your self talk affects you and making positive changes to that in order to help on court in match. Serve and volleys are very important at the higher levels. You can get a lot of free points or setup the next shot with a big serve and the confidence to volley well, allows players to be fearless when charging the net.

What you need to bringStudents and players should bring tennis attire, and a positive attitude. Of course, don’t forget your racquets!

What I can bringI have a basket of balls, and a hopper to help pick them up. I come with training equipment as needed.
