Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will assess athletic background, coordination, and experience. I will introoduce grip, ready position, and basic swing mechanics Focus on forehand and rally introduction Key Elements: • Warm-up with dynamic movement • Shadow swings + hand-fed balls • Introduce forehand grip (Eastern or Semi-Western) • Footwork basics: split step, lateral movement • Begin tracking/contact skills • Light rally with coach
Lesson 11+We will sharpen strategy, mental resilience, and match fitness. I will customize lessons based on player strengths and style of play Key Elements: • Advanced rally tolerance and pressure drills • Serve + 1 / Return + 1 scenarios • Match simulation with debrief and corrections • Focus on pre-point routines, emotional control, and resilience • Target training based on player type (e.g., baseliner vs. net-rusher) • Tournament prep or match play strategy (if competitive)
Lesson 4-10We will develop match-play skills, court awareness, patterns of play, and add depth, direction, and spin to shots. Key Elements: • Topspin and slice mechanics • Consistency drills (cross-court, down-the-line) • Serve + return progression (direction + variety) • Approach shots, transition footwork, and net coverage • Introduce scoring + play mini points or games • Court positioning and tactical decision-making
Lesson 2-3We will build muscle memory for forehand and backhand. Then, introduce serve basics and net play (volleys). Key Elements: • Feed drills for groundstrokes (forehand & backhand) • Racquet path, contact point, recovery position • Begin serving technique: toss, rhythm, motion (no power yet) • Intro to volleys: block technique, continental grip • Live ball rallying from service line or baseline

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonGoals: • Assess technical strengths, weaknesses, and tactical tendencies • Identify movement patterns, shot selection, and game style Key Elements: • Baseline rally with targets (depth, spin, pace) • Serve & return diagnostic (1st/2nd serve variety, return depth) • Point-based drills to evaluate footwork under pressure • Short video analysis • Identify 1–2 priority areas for technical or tactical refinement
Lesson 11+Goals: • Solidify identity (e.g., counterpuncher, all-court, aggressive baseliner) • Prepare for tournament play, mental endurance, and resilience Key Elements: • Mental focus routines: breathing, rituals, pre-serve mindset • Performance under fatigue: drill + play hybrids • Custom strategy development for different opponent types • Match review and corrections (video, notes, or journal) • Recovery, nutrition, and peaking strategies if in-season
Lesson 4-10Goals: • Improve match play IQ and shot tolerance • Train under pressure to simulate match conditions Key Elements: • Serve + 1 / Return + 1 tactical automation • High-intensity point play drills (e.g., offense vs. defense) • Situational games (e.g., deuce/ad plays, 30-all, break point) • Net play under pressure: half volleys, reaction drills, overheads • Movement sequences with recovery emphasis (e.g., V and L patterns) • Return aggressiveness & redirection training
Lesson 2-3Goals: • Sharpen core weapons (serve, forehand, backhand) • Improve consistency within match-specific patterns Key Elements: • Serve targets: wide, T, body on both sides; add spin/pace variation • Forehand/backhand pattern drills (inside-out, cross → line, etc.) • Directional rallying under constraints (2 cross, 1 down-the-line) • Exploit strengths + minimize weaknesses with structured sequences • Incorporate approach shots and aggressive court positioning
