Great tennis coach!!!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI try to get an understanding of what their tennis goals are. So I’ll spend the first couple of minutes asking what their experience with tennis has been so far (if any), and if they’re trying to get better for something in particular or if they just want to improve for themselves, or if so they just want to get good enough to play socially.
Lesson 11+Working on being able to maintain a longer rally. Maybe a little bit of point play depending on where they’re at level wise. Sprinkle in a bit of strategic thinking and how to end the point. Etc.
Lesson 4-10Still continuing to go over the basics, hitting a lot of balls, trying to work on consistency/directional control. Working on feeling more comfortable and more confident with the racket.
Lesson 2-3I kind of have an idea of what their goals are and I form my drills and lesson plans around that. Spending a lot of time on proper technique, knowing the rules/court, footwork and all of the fundamentals.

Youth players
Working with kidsI’ll ask how long they’ve been playing and how often they play. See where they’re at with their level and technique and go from there.

Working with teenagersSeeing their level will help me determine what types of drills I do. If they’re higher level, I’ll do more rallies and point play with them. Maybe one or two feeding drills if I see something I need to change with their technique. If they’re lower level, I’ll spend more time feeding balls and getting the technique down and getting better with rallying.

What you need to bringBring your racket(s), towel, water bottle of some sort and make sure you wear your sunscreen :).

What I can bringI will always have a basket of balls wherever I am, but while I’m at Newks, I’ll also have pickup hoppers, ball tubes, and ice and water if needed.
