I'm a passionate violin instructor with several years of experience helping students grow into confident, expressive musicians. My teaching blends a strong classical foundation with modern techniques, creating a fun and focused environment tailored to each student’s goals. I use the Essential Elements book for beginners and work with intermediate and advanced players on pieces they choose—whether for auditions, performances, or personal enjoyment. In addition to teaching, I'm a professional performer with the San Antonio Philharmonic and regularly play for events such as weddings, funerals, and private functions. My active performance career keeps my teaching fresh, relevant, and connected to real-world musicianship.

Ms. Amy has allowed me to gain more confidence in my playing and earn a seat as Concertmaster at the high school I attended. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI start beginning students with the very basics of music including rhythm and parts of the instrument.
Lesson 11+A beginner can expect to learn how to hold the bow and play with the bow after they have accomplished the left hand and instrument posture.
Lesson 4-10A beginner can expect to play some basic exercises and learn a few fingered notes.
Lesson 2-3Beginners can expect to learn how to hold the violin and pluck open strings.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAdvanced players bring their music.
Lesson 11+Players bring more music that they want to work on for future performances and auditions.
Lesson 4-10We try to get closer to being ready for an audition or performance.
Lesson 2-3We continue working on their music in order to improve it.
Youth players
Working with kidsI try to give simpler explanations of concepts and use more visuals if they are a visual learner and demonstrate more if they are an audio learner.
Working with teenagersIf they are a more advanced performer, I will work with them as I would with any other advanced player. However, if they are a beginning player, I will work with them as I would a beginner although I would use more complex language than with kids in order to explain concepts.

What I can bringI provide a metronome and a pencil, but I highly encourage students to have these items at home for practice purposes.
