I’ve been passionate about tennis for over 20 years, thanks to my father who introduced me to the game at a young age. I earned my coaching certification from The Professional Tennis Registry in 2021 and have since coached for Nike Tennis Camps, Smoke Rise Country Club, and offered private lessons. As a former Division II college player, I also volunteered at an afterschool program, where I had the chance to teach kids tennis alongside a local coach. This experience, along with four years of coaching at Reading & Requests, taught me the value of listening to students and using positive reinforcement to foster rapid improvement. In my lessons, I focus on mastering the six basic strokes, keeping score, proper hand placement, and understanding the rules of the game. My classes are designed to be dynamic, fun, and structured for maximum skill development.

Maurice is a dedicated and enthusiastic tennis coach in Decatur, bringing over 15 years of playing experience and more than three years of teaching expertise. With a strong foundation in individual, doubles, and group instruction, Maurice is committed to developing well-rounded tennis players of all ages and skill levels. His coaching background includes serving as a summer instructor at Morehouse College, where he organized practices, led matches, and guided students to improve their skills. As a former Morehouse College player and ALTA Champion, Maurice embodies leadership, self-discipline, and sportsmanship, inspiring younger athletes to reach their potential. He offers engaging private, semi-private, group lessons, and hitting sessions, tailored to help students master everything from technique to singles and doubles strategy. Maurice is available for lessons in the Decatur area and will travel up to 15 miles.

I have worked with several professional tennis players, including CoCo Gauff, Nathan Pasha, and Alexa Pitt, who is currently playing tour tennis. I also worked with over 200 junior players who acquired full ride tennis scholarships to various Division I, II, & III colleges and universities. I hold two masters, one in Sport Therapy and the other in professional counseling. I’m knowledgeable inest all aspects of helping tennis athletes reach their full potential. I have proven results.
