I am a PPR Certified Pickleball Coach and love to play pickleball, participated in Sr. Pro in PPA Tucson (2024), California Championship (2025, 4.0 Silver Medalist), and USA Championship in San Diego (2025). Hi there, I am Gavin, a passionate Chinese teacher who believes language learning should be practical and fun. I completed my study in the UK. Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to teach students of different ages and backgrounds, helping them build confidence in Chinese. My class is relaxed and conversation-focused. I enjoy using real-life situations, cultural stories, and humor to make Chinese feel natural instead of overwhelming.

I am passionate about helping students learn Mandarin in a fun and creative way. Using videos will help them understand the topic and theme more easily. I believe learning Mandarin should be fun rather than stressful. I am willing to make any necessary changes to help students succeed. During the first lesson, the student is expected to take a brief Mandarin skills test to help me understand the student's current level and skills in Mandarin.

I’ve coached players at every level — from complete beginners to high-performance athletes. That includes Alexander Sarkissian, who reached a career-high of 158 in the world and was an NCAA singles finalist in 2014, as well as current player Jean-Baptiste Badon (13.06 UTR). Throughout my career, I achieved a USTA National Ranking of #6, reached quarterfinal of the KPSF Open, earned an ITF ranking of 170, and a WTA ranking of 490. A full scholarship to the NCAA Division 1 university allowed me to continue my competitive career, where I achieved an ITA singles ranking of #18 in the nation and was honored as an Athlete of the Year.
