For the past five years, I've dedicated myself to teaching golf, focusing primarily on juniors aged 5-17 while also offering lessons to adults of all skill levels. As a certified US Kids instructor and with four years of experience at SCGA Junior, I've honed my ability to tailor lessons that cater to each student's needs and aspirations. My background in high school and college golf not only fuels my passion for the sport but also enriches my coaching with firsthand competitive insights.

What I liked most is he helped me understand how to generate more power in my golf swing, which is something I’ve been wanting to improve on as an 51 year old golfer, and also how to get it out without putting strain on my body. He does a great job dumbing down concepts for someone like me to understand i.e. making analogies to other sports and for me that helps a lot since I did not grow up playing golf.

With a surfboard in hand since childhood, I bring 15 years of experience to my coaching. I'm Katy, and over the past four summer school seasons, I've taught junior golf group lessons in camp clinics, catering to ages 3-18. Beyond that, I've developed my coaching skills through 1-on-1 instruction, working with individuals ranging from 14 to 55 years old. Back in 2017, I had the privilege of volunteering as a health & wellness advisor for a D1 Women’s Golf Team for a semester. On the competitive front, I've played against some top golfers like LPGA Rookie of the Year Jillian Hollis, Jessica Porvasnik, Clare Legaspi, Cindy Oh, and more. Before diving into our first lesson, I always start with an assessment to understand each player's personality, their mental game approach, and the unique ways in which they learn. From that foundation, our inaugural lesson will focus on observation—watching how you swing or play. After which, we circle back to mastering the fundamentals, complete with personalized drills. You get to decide the lesson's focus, be it putting, chipping, short game, or even a 9-hole playing lesson, all based on your golf aspirations. I believe in nurturing from within first. The ideal player I work with understands that a positive mindset is the foundation for a successful physical game in golf.
