When I was about 4 years old, my dad put a club in my hand and took me to his favorite municipal course in my hometown of Topeka, Kansas to play a few holes. That day was the day I fell in love with this beautiful game. My dad was my first instructor and he always made sure I had fun more than anything else. That is an approach that I really appreciate and one I want to make sure I carry over with my role as an instructor. "I started golf as a complete beginner and took lessons with Yixuan. After about 5–6 lessons, I’ve seen very clear improvement in my swing, ball contact, and overall confidence. The progress has been faster than I expected, which is why I decided to purchase a 10-lesson package. Yixuan is very patient, explains things clearly, and always tailors the lesson to my level. I feel more comfortable and confident every time I practice. I’m very satisfied with the lessons and would highly recommend her, especially to beginners.

I started playing pickleball in 2014 and have been successful in local tournament play events. Due to my early experience, I started the pickleball program at my local tennis club in Scripps Ranch as it increased from 2 to 4 to 8 pickleball courts. From there, with the help of the tennis pro, we started with large groups (30 -40 players) for pickleball training sessions years ago until interrupted by the Covid pandemic. We were able to start training again in 2023 with our current expanded player base. For the last few years, I have continued with private training sessions at local recreation areas, parks and at résidences.
