Known for his no-nonsense yet nurturing approach, Coach Pettaway combines deep basketball IQ with a strong focus on character, discipline, and culture. Currently serving as Head Coach of the Lawrence Woodmere Academy Post-Grad Program and Associate Head Coach for the PSA Cardinals 8th and 9th Grade Teams, Coach Pettaway has mentored and trained athletes who’ve gone on to succeed at the Division I, Division II, and JUCO levels. His coaching philosophy centers around hard work, accountability, and team alignment—values that translate beyond basketball into life success. Coach Pettaway is also the founder of Beyond the Bench & Board, a school culture consulting company that partners with schools to support deans, teachers, and school leaders in building systems that promote high expectations and strong relationships. "Hi, I am currently in season with my school at Bronx High School of Science. Coach and I still work out on my off days. I am currently averaging 16 pts and 9 rebounds for my school as a junior. We work on more than just the physical aspect of the game. We concentrate on the mental as well. I send coach a copy of my game if he can't make it to the games so we can review the pros and cons. With a rich background in baseball, I've competed at high levels, even securing a New York City high-school Championship victory at iconic Yankee Stadium. My experience extends to the esteemed New York City Varsity League, where I honed my skills under the guidance of legendary figures like Frankie Rodriguez and John Franco. Ki also scored on an average of 70.59 while he was competing in mini-tournaments nationwide. He has worked with a number of PGA tour coaches such as Mike Bender, Todd Anderson, and Chris Como. He has also worked with well-known short-game coaches like James Sieckmann and David Orr. Every now and then, he travels to Texas University to study and gain more knowledge and experience in golf under Director and Professor of Kinesiology, Dr. Kwon. Currently, Ki is now a certified instructor under the famous PGA tour coach, Dana Dahlquist. It is no doubt that Ki is an experienced player. He understands and is familiar with all the new technologies such as Trackman, Flightscope, GCquad, as well as Swing Catalyst training tools. Most importantly, he understands the biomechanics of the body which ultimately help you with the game of golf. Ki believes in a holistic approach to golf instruction and takes a great deal of pride in coaching and mentoring his students. He enjoys working with every level of golfers and helping them achieve their goals.
