In fact, two short 30-minute lessons are far more effective than one long session, because most students don’t have the time to practice enough to absorb everything at once. And while cameras and swing-analysis apps can look impressive, they rarely help unless a student specifically wants them and knows how to use the information. My teaching philosophy is simple: start from the true basics, see students frequently, and let them practice correctly right in front of me. I'm an avid student of the game, having studied under several club pros for many years. With beginning Golfers, I start with the basics, like grip alignment, posture, and stance. From there we build to the full swing. For the intermediate and more advanced golfer, I like to cover the basics and then move into the full swing, including the takeaway, back turn, shoulder rotation, hip rotation, downswing, proper ball contact, and follow-through—pronation and supination of the wrists. For children, the important thing is to make it fun. I will also work with you on chipping pitching, sand shots, and putting—lastly course management and golf etiquette. I like using videotape where appropriate.
