I've been a PGA Professional Golf Instructor since 1977, dedicated to improving your golf game in a relaxed, friendly environment. My Lesson Philosophy is to teach basic fundamentals, believing that core basics and with a dedicated practice routine will improve any golfer.

I was an all-state high school golfer working carts at La Cantera. I then went to college, where I played golf and graduated with honors in sports management. After college, I got hired as an assistant golf pro, giving lessons and playing on the mini-tour simultaneously. I later relocated to my hometown of San Antonio to work at Golf Galaxy. After four years, I worked my way up to management and became a master club fitter, training and fitting for golf clubs. My journey in golf has equipped me with a deep understanding of the game, and I’m passionate about helping others improve their skills and enjoy this wonderful sport.

With a golf club in hand since age four, I grew up immersed in the game at the prestigious Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, home to the 2004 Ryder Cup and 2008 PGA Championship. Living steps from the course, I honed my skills daily, achieving a 12 handicap at 15 on the challenging South Course. As a freshman, I earned a spot on my high school varsity golf team and later served as captain, benefiting from top-tier lessons with the head golf pro. My deep understanding of swing mechanics, combined with a keen eye for spotting and correcting errors, allows me to guide golfers of all levels. With over 17 years of experience in golf, I have been passionate about the game since I was 15 years old. Competing in numerous local tournaments in San Antonio has allowed me to hone my skills and deepen my love for the sport. At 32, I combine my extensive playing experience with a dedication to teaching, helping golfers of all levels improve their game and enjoy the sport. I work with a variety of tools and equipment to provide a comprehensive and modern approach to golf instruction. Golf has been my passion since I was three years old, growing up immersed in the sport. I honed my skills playing at the collegiate level for both Kansas State and Sam Houston State universities. Today, I continue to pursue my love for golf professionally, competing in local and regional events, striving to excel and grow in this game that has shaped so much of my life.

Having spent a lifetime perfecting my swing on courses around the world, including competing professionally on tour, I bring over five decades of experience to my coaching. I’m a former collegiate All-American who has played on various tours around the world. With 25 years of golfing experience, I’ve coached players currently competing on the PGA and LIV tours and even caddied on tour. I hold seven course records, having shot 58 twice and 59 twice, and I’m currently a +4.3 on the USGA GHIN. My extensive background in the game fuels my passion for teaching and helping others reach their potential!

Linwood is a long-time golf coach, having spent the past 17 years sharing the game he loves with players of all skill levels and ages. He played college Golf in Austin and is from San Antonio originally. He founded the Kids on Course Golf Academy over a decade ago and has remained its Head of Instruction. He has deep experience working with kids to help them improve their game.
