My passion for the game is contagious, and I believe in building a strong foundation of skills while fostering a positive and fun learning environment. Clay is a distinguished athlete and coach with a remarkable track record, having earned two gold and one silver medal with the US All Army team from 1993 to 1995. A celebrated ASA A West National Batting Champion in 2004, he is also a future Hall of Fame candidate. With an impressive history of 12 U National Championships and 14 U State Championships, Clay served as the Head Coach at Oklahoma Wildcat Prep Academy in Oklahoma City, where he continues to inspire and develop young talent in the sport.

My name is Dalyn Varela. I have been passionate about softball since the age of four, growing up on the field from tee-ball through college, where I had the privilege of playing at Iowa State University. After graduating, I transitioned into coaching as a hitting and fielding instructor—a role I’ve proudly held for the past 12 years. Throughout my coaching career, I’ve worked with athletes of all ages and skill levels, conducting private lessons, group sessions, and team-hitting clinics. I’ve learned that every athlete is unique, and I tailor each session to meet the individual’s needs, strengths, and goals. My focus is not only on developing physical skills, but also on building confidence and fostering a strong mental approach to the game. I promote a positive, growth-focused environment rooted in strong fundamentals, consistent work ethic, and attention to detail. I design and implement customized hitting programs based on players’ age, experience, and developmental objectives. I also utilize video analysis and modern technology to break down swing mechanics and help athletes understand and improve their performance. My goal is to empower each player to reach their full potential, on and off the field.
