He has been around tennis (competing, learning and coaching) for the past 43 years and loves every minute of it. Monty graduated from UC Riverside with a degree in business. Since 2019, he's been a Tennis Professional at Rio del Oro, where he shares his love for the game with players of all levels.

In just a few years as Head Coach for the American River Women's Tennis team he has coached them to their first State Championship. While at Sierra College he turned the women’s team into one of the top programs in the State. The Wolverines were seven time Nor Cal Champs and State Champions in 2007. The 2014 team claimed the coveted Ojai tournament championship. He was voted California State Coach of the year in 2006 and 2010 and maintains a USPTA Elite Professional certification.
