Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn our first basketball training session, the focus will be on building a strong foundation of effort, attitude, and fundamental skills. We’ll start with introductions and a light warm-up to get the body loose, followed by drills that develop ball handling, passing, layups, and basic footwork. I’ll demonstrate each skill and explain how it applies in game situations, making sure players understand the importance of technique and consistency. The session will end with a fun, competitive game to apply what we practiced and keep energy high. Before wrapping up, I’ll highlight effort, give feedback, and assign a simple at-home drill to continue improving between sessions.
Lesson 11+From lesson eleven onward, the focus will shift toward mastering game execution and preparing players to perform at a high level in real competition. Training will emphasize advanced offensive concepts such as reading defenses, creating scoring opportunities, and improving shot selection, while also strengthening defensive communication and transition play. Players will participate in more scrimmages, situational drills, and film-style breakdowns to enhance basketball IQ and decision-making under pressure. Each session will be designed to fine-tune skills, improve consistency, and build leadership, confidence, and composure so players can apply everything they’ve learned in competitive game settings.

How it works
Lesson 4-10Lessons four through ten will focus on developing advanced fundamentals and translating skills into real game performance. Players will work on shooting consistency from different spots on the court, mastering off-the-dribble moves, and finishing through contact. We’ll introduce more advanced ball-handling drills, defensive rotations, rebounding techniques, and conditioning to build endurance and strength. Each session will include competitive drills and situational play to improve decision-making, spacing, and teamwork. As the lessons progress, players will be challenged to combine all aspects of the game—offense, defense, and communication—showing growth in confidence, discipline, and overall basketball IQ.
Lesson 2-3In our second basketball training lesson, we’ll build on the fundamentals by adding more movement and control under pressure. Players will work on dribbling while changing speed and direction, improving passing accuracy on the move, and developing better shooting form through repetition. We’ll also focus on defensive stance, positioning, and learning how to stay in front of an opponent. The third lesson will emphasize game application — combining all the skills learned so far into live drills and small-sided games. Players will practice making quick decisions, reading the floor, and communicating as a team while maintaining strong fundamentals and confidence in game-like situations.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids in basketball training, my focus is on creating a positive, supportive, and fun learning environment where each child feels confident and motivated to improve. I emphasize teaching fundamentals through simple, engaging drills that build coordination, teamwork, and understanding of the game. Patience and encouragement are key — I make sure every child feels successful, no matter their skill level. I also teach sportsmanship, discipline, and respect both on and off the court, helping kids develop not only as players but also as individuals. My goal is to make every session enjoyable while building a strong foundation for long-term growth and love for the game

Working with teenagersWhen working with teenagers in basketball training, my focus is on developing their skills, discipline, and basketball IQ while also helping them grow as confident, responsible young athletes. I challenge them with higher-intensity drills that build strength, endurance, and decision-making under pressure, while still emphasizing fundamentals and teamwork. Communication and accountability are key — I encourage players to set goals, take ownership of their progress, and push themselves to improve every session. Along with skill development, I stress leadership, respect, and mental toughness, preparing them not only for competitive basketball but also for life beyond the court.
