About your basketball coach

Hello, my name is Brian J. Baker, but I prefer to be called Coach Bake. With over 20 years of experience as both a player and a coach, basketball has been a lifelong passion of mine. I firmly believe that every player has talent—it just takes the right coach to help bring it to the surface. I strive to be that person. I have worked with and helped develop boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18, focusing not just on basketball skills but also on life lessons and the importance of being a student-athlete. My coaching and training style is firm yet supportive, ensuring that every player grows both on and off the court. If I’m given the time and respect, I promise results that you’ll be proud of. Let’s put in the work and take your game to the next level!

I had the opportunity to work with Coach Bake during the summer of 2019, and the impact he had on my game was incredible. Before training with him, I was just an average player, but under his guidance, I developed into an overall MVP-caliber athlete. Over the next few seasons, I averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game. I also had the privilege of playing on his AAU team, which went on to win the Big Shots National Championship. Coach Bake is truly dedicated to his craft and takes pride in developing his players. I highly recommend him to anyone serious about elevating their game.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson will serve as an introduction, where I’ll introduce myself, outline my coaching philosophy, and set clear expectations. We’ll also go over fundamental drills and assess the player’s current skill level while discussing key basketball concepts to build a strong foundation for growth.
Lesson 11+If an 11th lesson is needed, it will consist of extended training hours and a more intense, focused workout. This session will push the player beyond their limits, emphasizing endurance, advanced skill application, and in-game decision-making to ensure they are fully prepared for competitive play.
Lesson 4-10In lesson four, we will continue reinforcing fundamental skills to ensure the player fully understands them before advancing to the next stage of development. Mastering the basics is crucial for long-term growth. From lessons five through ten, we will shift to a faster pace, transitioning from fundamental drills to applying those skills in game-like situations. This is where we introduce more advanced training tools, such as the agility ladder, cones, and tennis balls, to enhance ball-handling control, coordination, and overall agility. These sessions will push players to elevate their game and develop a higher level of confidence and skill execution.
Lesson 2-3In the second lesson, we’ll pick up where we left off, taking a more advanced approach. We’ll refine fundamental skills while introducing more challenging drills, ensuring the player understands the purpose behind each exercise. The focus will be on improving technique, basketball IQ, and overall performance.

Youth players
Working with kidsIt depends on the player’s knowledge of basketball, as this helps me determine the best approach to take. By assessing their understanding and skill level, I can tailor my coaching to ensure they get the most out of each session, whether that means focusing on fundamentals or advancing to more complex techniques.

Working with teenagersMy approach with teenagers would be similar—I would first assess their knowledge and understanding of the game. Some players may already have a strong foundation, allowing me to take a more advanced approach, while others may need to refine their fundamentals before progressing. This ensures that each player receives the right level of training to maximize their development.

What you need to bringI ask that the players wear comfortable attire and shoes, water and anything else that’s needed such as inhalers etc.

What I can bringI will bring the basketball and anything thats need for any drills that we would be working on.
