Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIntroduction to basic pickleball skills such as scoring, shot selection, court position, and safety. You should leave this session confident in your ability to play a game with others of your similar rating. Homework and video drills will be provided for you to complete on your own or with Alex.
Lesson 11+Any further lessons will be tailored to your specific goals. We can perform drills, train for a tournament, or work on advanced court strategy.
Lesson 4-10We will focus on and refine the above skills and engage in match play. By this time you should feel confident engaging in open play and round robins. I can match you with players with whom you can set up games and/or drill sessions. Specific feedback on areas of improvement including video drills will be provided. You can also decide if you would like to receive an official DUPR provisional rating.
Lesson 2-3After a free 10-minute warmup and evaluation, we will decide which skill(s) to focus on such as serve, return of serve, volley, dinks, court position, non-volley zone, and transition area play, in addition to reinforcing court scoring, safety, and rules. Homework, specific feedback, and video drills provided.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonDuring a free 15-minute warm up, we will discuss and strategize the skills you need to advance which could include third-shot drops, other shot selection, court position, tactical plays, and technical refinement. You can also receive an official DUPR provisional ranking to play in tournaments.
