Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWarm-up & Basics (5-10 min): We’ll start with a quick rundown of the rules, court positioning, and how to hold the paddle, then do a light warm-up to get moving.
Groundstrokes (15 min): I’ll have you hit some forehands and backhands from the baseline so we can see where your stroke mechanics and consistency are.
Net Play & Volleys (15 min): We’ll work on dinks and volleys at the non-volley zone, focusing on control and soft hands to help you develop a good touch at the net.
Serving & Wrap-Up (10 min): We’ll finish by practicing serves for consistency, then play out a few points so I can see how everything comes together in a game setting.
Lesson 11+Applying Pressure & Defending Under Pressure
Warm-up & Quick Review (5-10 min): We’ll start with a short rally and some dinks to reinforce consistency while identifying any areas that need fine-tuning.
Offensive & Defensive Shot Selection (15 min): We’ll focus on recognizing opportunities to attack with drives and volleys while also practicing resets when under pressure.
Handling Fast-Paced Play (15 min): You’ll work on quick reactions at the net, learning how to defend against fast exchanges and counterattack effectively.
Game Play with Coaching (10 min): We’ll play out points while I give real-time feedback, helping you make smarter decisions and adjust your strategy on the fly.
Lesson 4-10Strategy & Shot Selection
Warm-up & Skill Check (5-10 min): We’ll rally and hit a few serves to get loose, while I watch for areas to fine-tune from our last lesson.
Controlled Offense & Defense (15 min): We’ll work on when to hit aggressive shots versus when to play it safe, focusing on shot placement and patience.
Transition Zone & Kitchen Play (15 min): You’ll practice moving from the baseline to the kitchen, learning how to handle mid-court shots and reset tricky balls.
Game Situations & Decision Making (10 min): We’ll play out points with specific goals (like keeping the ball in play for a set number of shots) to reinforce smart shot selection.
