In our first lesson, we’ll build a strong foundation by covering the basics of tennis - rules, scoring, court layout, and essential equipment. You’ll learn fundamental skills like proper grip, stances, and basic strokes to start hitting with confidence. My goal is to create a supportive, inclusive environment where you feel comfortable, encouraged, and excited to grow your game from day one.
In lessons 2-3, we’ll build on the fundamentals by developing your forehand and backhand technique, introducing rally skills, and exploring basic footwork and positioning. You’ll start hitting with more consistency and confidence while learning how to move effectively on the court. Each session will be tailored to your pace, with a focus on progress, encouragement and enjoying the process.
In lessons 4-10, we’ll deepen your skills through consistent repetition, movement, and live play. You’ll gain confidence with rallying, directional control, and serve fundamentals, as well as net play. We’ll also start to work on understanding point play and strategy.
One of my favorite drills at this stage is a forehand and backhand progression - starting with hand fed balls, moving to racket fed, all the way to hitting live balls, designed to build clean technique, rhythm, and confidence from the ground up. Each session is geared toward your continued improvement.
In lessons 11+, we’ll focus on sharpening your skills with drills that simulate real game situations. You’ll develop stronger patterns and court awareness through serve +1 scenarios, point play, serve return practice, serve and volley drills, and point play. These sessions are all about refining technique while building confidence under pressure, and preparing you to compete, or simply play your best with consistency and intention.
