The lesson with Rick was quite focused, starting right away with evaluating basic skills like posture and swing, things I believe are essential for building a good game. Still, I hope we can see him work more on her serving and returning skills going forward. Rick's knowledge and coaching approach definitely stand out, and I think there's a lot of potential for continued improvement, especially as she’s really starting to enjoy the sport. If you're considering trying him, he seems well-equipped to help her develop her game steadily.

Rick was patient and encouraging. He laid out the basics and gave us things to work towards. It was an enjoyable first lesson!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI ask them about their experience playing tennis or any other sports and navigate a plan based on that information. Plus I ask them what they want to focus on. Use transit balls
Lesson 11+Help them build confidence on all the fundamentals of tennis. By now they should have defined some goals based on what they feel they need to practice on. Introducing more advanced shots like drop shot, kick serve, top spin, and getting the player used to a more competitive playing.
Lesson 4-10Full exposure to the basic rules of the game, work on serves, returns, foot work, volleys. Once the student has demonstrated some control of the ball, introduce them to some basic components of strategy. Encourage good etiquette, especially on calling balls in/out
Lesson 2-3Highlight the value of a good warm up activity. Building on the fundamentals of short control shots near the next, cover the 4 basic components of any hit for baseline shots and those closer to the net. If the student is ready introduce the player to the next level of transition balls.

What you need to bringGood court shoes, water, hat and sunglasses if the sun is out. Comfortable athletic clothes

What I can bringI have some spare tennis racquets, balls and some teaching props
