I am a local Baltimore tennis coach with over 15 years of playing experience and over 5 years of teaching experience! I am also a PTR Certified Tennis Professional. I have played in many ITF (International Tennis Federation) professional tournaments in different African countries and in Europe. Teaching and playing tennis is one of my biggest passions! I captained my college tennis team in Kansas before I transferred to Coppin State University which is a Division 1 school in Baltimore, Maryland. The past 3 summers I have worked at different summer camps where I taught countless tennis lessons to kids. I have also been working for the Baltimore Tennis Patron where I teach kids, teens and adults.

I began as a lifeguard in high school and rediscovered my passion for teaching while instructing at Boston University. Lester Chavez hails from the Tidewater VA area with over 35 years of coaching experience. Throughout his career, Coach Lester has served as Director of Tennis at the Montgomery Sports Association, Head Coach at Tennis Centeal, Head Coach at Holton Arms and Georgetown Visitation. He played NCAA II tennis for the Washington Adventist University as a student (Business Admin. Management/Marketing), player and Head Coach.

My teaching philosophy is that you must have fun. If studying guitar feels like a chore, this won't work. I like to meet students where they are, both overall (what's the music you love!) and how they feel week to week. I've played guitar since I was 14, and I love the instrument not only because it rocks, but also because of its rich history and its standing as an art object. I write guitar-focused journalism for magazines like Premier Guitar & Fretboard Journal.
