For over 15 years, I've guided students from beginners to professionals, drawing on my experience as a professional pianist. My teaching emphasizes technique, musicality, and the sheer joy of playing, ensuring a fulfilling musical journey.

For over 20 years, I've cultivated a deep passion for sharing the art of piano. My approach blends basic understanding of musical chords and ability to read music with a focus on listening to music in new, effective ways. I enjoy helping students hear patterns in songs and chords which will speed up their learning process. I also fully understand each student learns in different ways, and each student is motivated to learn a new skill in different ways, and am able to adapt to each individual's unique set of skills. I've worked with several piano teachers over my lifetime and know which styles helped motivate me personally. My job is to determine how best to keep a student engaged and having fun with the process. I enjoy the Boogie Woogie Swing Piano genre and have found many young people can't wait to learn it once they hear it played. I believe anyone can learn to play piano and that once they understand the basics, they will have a lifetime of enjoyment and special hobby that takes them away from life's daily stressors and helps to reduce screen time.

As a professional pianist, I've spent the last 40 years captivated by the nuances of music. My passion lies in nurturing talent and helping students, of all levels, discover the joy and fulfillment of playing the piano. Through tailored guidance and a sprinkle of humor, we'll embark on a rewarding musical journey together. My background combines 25 years as a school music teacher (M.A.Music Ed), and 40 years of performing jazz, pop and classical styles of music. I do have a fondness for swing and bossa nova, too! Michelle Brite is a classical pianist with a Bachelors of Music in Music Composition from the University of North Texas. She has stand out knowledge in Music Theory, Aural Skills, Composition, and Accompaniment. She is a versatile music professional dedicated to creating meaningful growth through music. Michelle's piano journey started at 4 years old and was competitively playing at a young age. Once in middle school, she started playing percussion in band as well. Around this time, Michelle found her love for music composition and started working on personal composition projects in addition to her piano lessons. Through ages 14-16, many solo piano pieces came to fruition, which were compiled and produced as a CD released at age 17. By this time, Michelle knew that she wanted to go to school for music! Michelle was accepted to the College of Music at the University of North Texas (UNT) with a concentration in piano and a major of music composition in 2012. During her time at UNT she had the opportunity to work with highly skilled pianists to further develop her craft. She has large amounts of experience in practicing methods and what it means to have a successful working session. Michelle's course work allowed her to extensively study music theory, aural skills, composition, orchestration, and instrumentation. She has a deep love for music theory and understanding music from a fundamental level. As a musician with real-world experience, Michelle has had the pleasure of participating in a variety of ensembles, rehearsing in different settings, and working with many different people. This includes, but is not limited to, women's choir, piano accompaniment, composition rehearsals, and contemporary and rock band ensembles. Michelle's musical background makes her a great option for all types of students, from kids learning music for the first time to students preparing for college auditions and adults wanting to learn a new skill. She knows how important it is to have a personalized learning plan and puts together unique resources for each lesson. Depending on the overall goal, Michelle can teach piano, music theory, songwriting, accompaniment, and more. Michelle Brite's other areas of expertise include a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and work experience in marketing/PR and software. She has had valuable growth in these fields but is now focusing full-time on music! Michelle is thrilled to be taking on more piano students and performing more as a musician in the Austin area.
