Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will begin with a general evaluation. This includes a series of drills to evaluate strengths and areas for improvement, along with a conversation with the individual about their goals and what they want to improve in their game.
Lesson 11+As the individual progresses, we will continue to build off previous sessions. We will advance techniques, refine specific skills, improve footwork, coordination, speed, and more. We will also analyze the game to find patterns and shots that set the individual up for success. As the individual progresses, we will routinely check in with their goals to ensure they are getting their value out of lessons.
Lesson 4-10As the individual begins to improve, we will start to address mental and strategy aspects of the game. Rather than just “keeping the ball in play”, we will start to work on how to set yourself up for success and put your opponents in a position for you to win points.
Lesson 2-3We will work on addressing areas of improvement through drilling. Sessions will work on both long term and short term issues in the game. I will also provide a list of drills for the individual to do in their own time, so they can keep improving their skills outside of lesson times.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen I work with youth, I place a special emphasis on technique. At an age where kids are able to develop rapidly, teaching good technique and pickleball etiquette is essential. We will study shot selection, technique, and execution, all through fun gameplay that keeps the child or teenager entertained.
