Five years ago, during the pandemic, I began playing pickleball regularly, quickly falling in love with the sport. While unofficially coaching beginners during this time, my passion for pickleball has grown immensely, driving me to train towards becoming a senior pickleball professional. Currently rated around 4.1 on the DUPR rating scale, I actively participate in advanced tournaments, aiming to elevate my skills further on the path to achieving my professional goals. As a medical doctor, I see pickleball as embodying the values of health, happiness, and community, and I'm eager to share these aspects of the game with others.

I started playing pickleball 3 years ago and I play several times a week in advanced level open play and ladder sessions. I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to go from not knowing how to play to being a solid pickup player who can play in intermediate and advanced games. I still know exactly what it’s like to be a brand new beginner and trying to figure out the game especially all the rules. My coaching style is easygoing and I try to keep the lessons light hearted so everyone feels welcome and comfortable. I like to use a mix of drills and gameplay with real time instruction and feedback during my lessons. A group of 3 or 4 students makes for a great class because I can play a doubles game with you while teaching you how the game works. I can also advise you on equipment, where to play, what apps to download to find games and leagues, etc. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

I started playing pickleball in 2014 and have been successful in local tournament play events. Due to my early experience, I started the pickleball program at my local tennis club in Scripps Ranch as it increased from 2 to 4 to 8 pickleball courts. From there, with the help of the tennis pro, we started with large groups (30 -40 players) for pickleball training sessions years ago until interrupted by the Covid pandemic. We were able to start training again in 2023 with our current expanded player base. For the last few years, I have continued with private training sessions at local recreation areas, parks and at résidences.

I use games, mini-challenges, and lots of movement to keep them engaged and smiling the whole time. I focus on simple goals, quick wins, and making sure every child leaves feeling successful and excited to come back. Positive energy, patience, and encouragement are at the heart of every lesson.

I've always enjoyed working with kids and giving them lots of encouragement to help them reach their goals. In the past I have worked as a teacher's assistant in a special education class, worked as a camp counselor, coached youth soccer, and helped take care of my nieces and nephews.
