Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first lesson, it’s all about identifying why you want a lesson and what your goals are. From there, we can do a quick assessment on current skill level, strengths, and weaknesses.
Lesson 2-3From here we’re going to start a lesson plan based off of the first lesson and students overall goals by breaking the game apart into small pieces to practice and develop fundamentals.
Lesson 4-10By this point certain shots have been learned and we have been drilling consistency within those shots, and game strategy has been discussed on an elementary level.
Lesson 11+From here on out, it’s primarily learning new shots and consistency within new shots. Also, as the student begins to play more, we will be able to identify different patterns within play and help develop new consistency for their newly learned shots.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonI will be using the same approach as I would with any student. Firstly, it’s identifying goals. From there, we’ll do an assessment to understand the student’s current strengths and weaknesses to be able to build a solid lesson plan.
Lesson 2-3In the first few lessons, we will be doing patterned drills to showcase the students understanding of the game. From there, we will be able to identify weaknesses in game strategy and shot form.
Lesson 4-10From here, we’ll be drilling specific shots for specific strategies within the game. We will be able to identify the students weak points within games and create drilling sessions around those weaknesses.
Youth players
Working with kidsThe biggest thing is making sure that it’s fun. I’m teaching kids the game of kickball. It starts with the rules and the basic motion of hitting a ball over the net.
Working with teenagersSimilar to teaching young kids with youth students the goal is to facilitate an atmosphere of fun surrounding Pickleball. So we will first work through hitting the ball over the net once excitement has been generated around actual play of the ball then we Will discuss rules and facilitate shot practice.
What you need to bringPreferably good stable shoes, water, sun protection, and if they can, eye protection.
What I can bringI can bring balls, paddles, and cones.
